Donovan to talk to Beckham about criticism

Landon Donovan isn’t backing down from what he said about David Beckham’s performance as a teammate last season with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

But the U.S. national team star does regret that he didn’t go to Beckham with his concerns first, the Los Angeles Times reported.

“I’m not going to apologize for the way I felt,” Donovan said, according to the Times. “What I feel badly about is that I should have been a man and told David how I felt as opposed to telling a reporter.” Read much more…

Donovan admits all Galaxy players like Beckham

LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan has admitted that all the players at the club like David Beckham despite describing him as a lousy captain.

Donovan stated in the soon-to-be-released book, The Beckham Experiment, that the former Manchester United star was a poor captain and seemed to lose focus on the club towards the end of last season.

But Donovan, who has apologised for what he said about Beckham, admits that all the players like him.

“We all like David,” Donovan said. “I like David as a person and I think he’s a very good player. The frustrating part was at some point something happened and he seemingly turned off at the end of the year. Nobody knows what it was, and my fault is I should have asked him and approached him and I didn’t.

“Instead I vented to a reporter (book author Grant Wahl) and I regret it.” Source

LA Galaxy’s Beckham reveals Tom Cruise influence

Grant Wahl’s book, The Beckham Experiment, reveals how LA Galaxy star David Beckham and Hollywood actor Tom Cruise are best of friends.

The book dedicates almost an entire chapter to their friendship, revealing that Beckham often seeks Cruise’s advice and some of Cruise’s influence has rubbed off on him.

Apparently, Cruise was influential in Beckham moving to Los Angeles and introduced him to his PR firm and physical therapist among other things.

Beckham also admitted that the naming of his and Victoria’s son Cruz, came from an obvious source.

“I must admit, when [Victoria and I] met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, ‘Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different,’” Beckham told Wahl for the book, due from Crown Publishing on Tuesday. “And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that’s why we got it.” Source
