Galaxy edge Revs, go unbeaten in six

The Los Angeles Galaxy extended their unbeaten streak to six matches after a 2-1 win against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium.

Galaxy forward Landon Donovan opened the scoring on 21 minutes with a sumptuous far-post volley. Jovan Kirovski doubled the advantage six minutes after the break by turning home a loose ball. Steve Ralston’s 83rd-minute penalty kick handed the Revolution a lifeline, but the home side couldn’t find an equalizer in the late stages and watched its four-match unbeaten run come to an end.

The entertaining victory gave Los Angeles its first-ever win in eight tries (1-5-2) at Gillette Stadium and solidified its playoff prospects as the Revolution dropped only their second game in MLS play this season. Keep reading

New England 1 – 2 Los Angeles

David Beckham and Landon Donovan are parting ways again – this time as teammates who hug each other.

Donovan scored the first goal then jumped into the arms of a smiling Beckham, and the Los Angeles Galaxy celebrated their fifth win in six games with a 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night.

Beckham left after the game to train with England’s national team for its exhibition game against the Netherlands in Amsterdam on Wednesday. Donovan planned to leave Sunday morning for Miami to train with the U.S. national team for its World Cup qualifier against Mexico in Mexico City, also on Wednesday.

Both plan to rejoin the Galaxy on Thursday
