Andorra 0 England 2

Congrats England on the win! Good start! Here are some pics in the gallery.

David didn't play a big role in this match, he only came on at the end when they were already ahead 2 points. Speculators are saying that Capello might be saving him for Tomorrow's match which will be the real challenge when they face Croatia.

2008 MLS Upper Deck cards
I used to be a sports card collector when I was younger so this caught my eye, a familiar name in the sports card industry, Upper Deck has released their 2008 collection which of course features the L.A. Galaxy and David Beckham :0)
Here's the card:

David flew to Spain earlier today in anticipation of tomorrow's match for which Dina posted online viewing options below.

Sesame Street Video
I posted the video yesterday from youtube, however here's a higher-quality one so you can see it better. It's a very cute video so worth posting the higher quality one too I think :)

Gotta love that persistent elmo :)

David trains with England squad!

( source ) ( source ) Once again in a move that shows that he doesn't cave to external pressure or follow others opinions and instead does what his own research discovers and what he thinks is best for the team, coach Capello named David Beckham as part of his 23 man squad for the first world cup qualifiers match in Andorra.

The Andorra match takes place at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona on Saturday 6th September, whilst the Croatia tie will be played at the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb the following Wednesday evening. If David plays he will win his 104th and 105th caps, equalling Billy Wright’s 105-cap haul! Go David!

The full squad: Robert Green (West Ham), David James (Portsmouth), Paul Robinson (Blackburn); Wayne Bridge (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester Utd), Glen Johnson (Portsmouth), John Terry (Chelsea), Wes Brown (Manchester Utd), Joleon Lescott (Everton), Matthew Upson (West Ham); Gareth Barry (Aston Villa), David Beckham (LA Galaxy), David Bentley (Tottenham), Jimmy Bullard (Fulham), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough), Jermaine Jenas (Tottenham), Frank Lampard (Chelsea); Jermain Defoe (Portsmouth), Emile Heskey (Wigan), Wayne Rooney (Manchester Utd), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).

David was with the squad this afternoon practicing in England. There are some pictures in the gallery, here.

Congrats to David! Hope he plays all the matches!

Happy Birthday Romeo

David speaks about draw to New England Revolution

David had the following to say about their match against the New England Revolution:

"It was a good game of soccer tonight. Both teams had good plays,” he said. “We knew it was going to be a tough game. We knew coming here it's always a difficult opponent to come up against. We played some good football ourselves as a team and we stuck together as a team. We'll take the draw, but we felt we deserved to win. But I'm biased."

He also had special praise for Landon:

"Everybody knows Landon is a great goal scorer. It's what he does. It's what he's done his whole career. It's what he'll carry on doing, because he's very talented. If you give him the ball in the right places, he'll score 99 percent of the time. Tonight was a good night for him, because he had two chances and he put them both away.”

He was also pleased with the team's effort after several poor results over the past few weeks:

“This last week has been a week of training hard and doing things that we should be doing. Tonight is the first step of getting us back on the right road. I've always said we have the right players and the right team; it's just a case of getting the confidence and getting the level up. And tonight was a step forward without a doubt, a few steps forward. As a team, we stuck together, which we haven't had the last few months."

We know the L.A. Galaxy fans out there are probably frustrated about losing David to the England squad for a while but we wish the Galaxy the best of luck and to continue their nice efforts and turn this winless streak right around and start winning some matches!

More Video Goodies

Here are some more older video goodies. I realize some of these might have already been posted but I don't think anyone here would get tired of seeing videos of David even if it's the second time - so I hope you find these enjoyables, if not, let me know and I won't post any of these older videos I find :)
