David's Latest Blog, Beckhams in NY, Squad for NZ

David's Latest Blog
Hi everybody,

Well, it was brilliant to see England win in Berlin last week. Obviously, it was only a friendly but to win any game, especially against a team like Germany is always an incredible feeling. Well done to them.
On Saturday night I travelled to Las Vegas to see my friend Ricky Hatton win his boxing match against Paulie Malignaggi. It was a great spectacle and Ricky looked to be back in top form, winning in the 11th round. To be honest, he looked in control for most of the fight and it was great to see all his hard work and training pay off.
Speaking of training, the Galaxy are still training for the match in New Zealand next week. We’re all excited about going back there again and really want to finish the year with a bang.
That’s all for now.

Take care,

David

Beckhams & Cruises in Manhattan
Tom Cruise & his family met up with David & his family in NYC for the holiday. They attended a Broadway show, rode in a carriage through Central Park, watched the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and saw the Big Apple Circus. You can find out more about the trip here, and we'll hopefully have a gallery or two for you to see soon!

Becks Blogs, Galaxy Postpone Australia

David's Latest Blog
...in which he (thankfully) clears up one or two small rumours accompanying the Milan story.
Hello everybody,

So, the MLS season is over for the Galaxy. Unfortunately we didn’t get the win we wanted to end the season with on Sunday, but we played well and showed the right commitment and spirit, so the signs are very positive for next season.

On Monday the club held an event on Monday for the season ticket holders who come out to watch the Galaxy win, lose or draw. It was great to meet so many fans and spend time talking to them. They are incredibly passionate about the club and deserve success, which unfortunately we couldn’t give them this season, but they are positive about the future and hopefully next year we can really give them something to cheer about.

I know there’s been a lot of talk recently about the possibility of me joining AC Milan on loan in January during the MLS break. One of the reasons I want to train and play in Milan for a few months is the fact that the MLS season doesn't run as long as the European season and having played most of my career in Europe, my body has been trained and geared not to have that amount of time off. Obviously, I will be honoured to be given the chance to train and play with the likes of Ronaldinho and Kaka, but it also gives me the chance to keep my fitness up and carry that on for when I come back to the Galaxy for the new MLS season. Of course, nothing is confirmed yet, but there’s already been plenty of talk that I’ve bought a house out there and that I’m buying a jet, none of which is true. I will let you know when it happens.

Next season is an important one for the Galaxy. We haven’t been in the playoffs for three years now and for a team like LA Galaxy we all know that isn’t good enough. Bruce Arena will also have had the chance over the past few months to get used to the squad and, with his experience and previous success, he’ll want to make sure that we’re up there competing next year.

All the best

David

Galaxy Australia Tour off, New Zealand Still on
With David bowing out of the Australian leg of the Galaxy's tour in December due to his pending Milan loan and (alleged) fear of risking injury prior to it, the Galaxy have postponed (no word on when it might be rescheduled) their game in Brisbane against the Queensland Roar. The game was scheduled for December 11th.

As of right now they are still planning to go ahead with a game in New Zealand against an Oceanic team on December 6th. Whether or not David will be present for that game is somewhat unclear - however, the organizers of the New Zealand match are insisting he will be present in NZ. Check out this article at Radio Sport for more information. We'll bring you updates as details are confirmed.

ESPN has two pieces about this story here and here.

Could Beckham be the new Pirlo?
For those who have an interest in Italian football and/or the English national team, this is an article about the role Becks could play in AC Milan & how it may affect his national duty.

Excerpt:
If David Beckham’s loan move to AC Milan goes through, one of the options coach Carlo Ancelotti has in mind is to use him as an alternative to Andrea Pirlo as a deep midfield playmaker.

It’s an interesting possibility which could help Beckham edge towards Peter Shilton’s record of 125 England caps as a protagonist rather than the bit player he is at the moment.

The Beckhams To Become Cartoon Characters?
This is a fun piece courtesy of Franco, that's just unconfirmed gossip but is a welcomed relief from all the seriousness we've had to plod through lately!
Comic book mogul Stan Lee wants to turn Victoria Beckham and David Beckham into cartoon characters! And they won’t be just any old characters. Lee wants them to be a crime-fighting duo! Lee, who also created Spider-Man, is currently working on transforming Paris Hilton into a comic book character, and he has high hopes for Posh and Becks. He says the beauty of the power couple is what drew him to them in the first place.

Lee says of his idea, "There are so many ways to do it. We could make them a crime fighting team where the soccer is just a facade. Or we could make them spies or we could make it a comedy where one of them wants to be an adventurer? He’s a very attractive, personable guy and she’s a very attractive, interesting looking girl. I haven’t met the Beckhams yet but I think we could do a great show."

New Blog Post

Here's David latest blog post:

Hi everyone,

Well, I’m still with England at the moment as we’ve a big game against Belarus tonight and, of course, we’ll be looking for another win. So far, things have gone well for us in the qualifying matches with three wins out of three and plenty of goals scored.
The match against Kazakhstan at the weekend was our first qualifier at Wembley and although we couldn’t break the team down in the first half I felt once we got the first goal we controlled the match. I think the expectation was that we’d win 5-0, but once we didn’t get the early goal it took a while to create the chances. In the end though, the result was a good one and we’re in a strong position in the table.
Obviously, I was pleased to get on the pitch and get involved. It’s one of the things that substitutes are for, to come on and create chances, so I was pleased that I was able to do that for the team.
Away from England, I was delighted that the Galaxy won on Sunday. Although I love playing for my country it’s hard when my club is playing when I’m away and I can’t contribute in some way. It was brilliant to see them win though and that means we’re still in with a chance of making the playoffs. Other results have to go our way but we’re not out of it yet, so well done to the team.
That’s all for now.

Take care,

David

Also, check out the gallery for pics of yesterday's England training pics (more added as they are found).

It's been quite a mixed day for Beckham news, some of it too gossip-ish to bother including here, but I'll try to give you a broad spectrum.

Also, because I was away I was unable to get you David's latest blog post on the 8th, so I'll include it here now:
Hi everyone,

Well, the match against Columbus Crew was always going to be a tough game. We knew how good they were as a team, and how well they are playing at the moment. They’ve already qualified for the playoffs and are full of confidence. Unfortunately we made a mistake right at the end of the first half and they scored. We had our chances though, which was good to see, we just didn't put them away. Obviously it’s another tough defeat for us, but at least we showed great character.

We’re still in a position where we can qualify for the playoffs, but it’s going to be very tough and everyone has to play at the top of their game in the remaining matches.

I’m away with England now, so I’ll miss the game against Colorado Rapids, but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for the lads and hope we get the right result.
This is the first time the England lads have been together since the matches against Andorra and Croatia, and we'll take the confidence from those games and go for two positive results against Kazakhstan and Belarus

I’ll let you know how the matches go.

All the best,

David

Speaking of the Galaxy
...they won their match against the Rapids yesterday, 3-2. This means their playoff hopes are still alive, but they'll have to squeeze every point out of the remaining games to keep those hopes alive. Good luck to them on their continued campaign! Match report here.

Beckham house staff held for theft
Some disturbing news from England:
A couple who worked as housekeepers at David Beckham's Hertfordshire mansion have been arrested for theft, it was revealed today.

The alarm was raised by the parents of his wife Victoria who saw items for sale on an auction website which were identical to property at the estate.

They went to the Beckhams' home in Sawbridgeworth, known as Beckingham Palace, found the same things were missing and called police.
More here.

Beckham happy to hand England baton to Theo
A very brief piece here presents a quote from David regarding Theo Walcott's place in England's squad vs. his own, and his future footing (no pun intended) in international play.
"Theo has been great and he played well again. You can see what a threat he is every time he gets the ball and runs at players," said Beckham. "There is no one that can get near him.

"He deserves to be where he is, and I hope he carries on - because he is an exceptional talent."

Financial Crisis Hits Casa Beckham
It's not everyone's cup of tea for news, but in the current international financial climate this is being widely reported, so here it is for those who want as much news as possible:
David Beckham, now with Los Angeles Galaxy, is trying in every way to sell his villa in Madrid, that has not been used since he left Real. "Casa Beckham" is situated in the very chic district of Moraleja and has five bedrooms, swimming pool and a football pitch. Bought for 4.5 million euros, it is currently on sale for 5. But the Spice Boy had to drop his claim to 3. And despite this he still has it.

David on Cosmo's World's Sexiest Men List
Another "sexy" honor: David's made the top 10 list of the world's sexiest men in the upcoming (November) issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. (source) Was there ever any doubt?

Becks an International Role Model, Again
And in more fluff, David was named a top role model by Australian children who voted in a poll that asked “Who is your favourite celebrity or famous person? It could be a singer, a sportsperson, a TV star, a politician or anyone else who’s famous”. (source) It's not the first time he's been lauded as a role model by either children or adults, and I doubt it will be the last. (Just like the neverending "sexy" lists...)

England vs. Kazakhstan Highlights/Goals
It's not in English and I hate the new trend of putting text like "click here" over videos, but here's a clip of highlights from Saturday's game.

David's latest blog post

Here is his latest blog post:

=============

Hi everyone,

Well, after the England games I returned to LA at the end of last week and immediately set off with the Galaxy for the match against Kansas City Wizards on Saturday. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the result we wanted. It was a tough game for us and obviously no one likes losing, but we’re all determined to turn it around.

We’re working hard on the training pitch trying to get things right and I think it just needs a bit of luck during a game for things to turn in our favour.

There are only six games left for us to get a playoff place and we all know it’s going to be very tough, but it’s possible. Getting that first win will make us mentally stronger and give us the belief we need.

We play D.C United at home next and we’re at home in front of our own supporters who deserve a win and we hope as a team we can give them one come Saturday night.

Take care

David

Polls

Fellow DBFOer, Sita which always sends us useful links (thanks Sita!) sent me this poll today with a similar poll that we're running. Here is the poll.

"The verdict is out, and 75% of Goal.com readers are of the opinion that David Beckham does deserve a place in the England squad despite criticisms from various corners."

Meanwhile, we're still running our own poll here but not many of you voted, please vote here.
So far these are the results:

Picking the Kids at School

Daily Mail reported yesterday that David picked up his kids in his Phantom and with a team of security. You can see the pictures here. They seem to put it in a condescending way but I think I would be as careful as he is if I had that kinda money. Why not?

Pictures

Those that wanted to see the great pics that DBFOer "Am A" took, you can see them here - they start that picture and the next 26 pics were all taken by her too.

David Beckham's Latest Blog

Hi everyone,

Well, it’s a great feeling to finish the two England games with six points and a good a start to World Cup 2010 qualification. Against Andorra I thought we played well enough and it was a professional performance from the team, but against Croatia last night it seemed everything just clicked into place. It was an amazing score line and everyone played brilliantly. To be honest, we owed the fans and ourselves that one, but to win 4-1 away to a team that has never lost a competitive match at home was as good as it gets.

I couldn’t have been happier for Theo Walcott, who scored a hat-trick. He’s still so young, but he played with no fear and scored three great goals. It was a great match for everyone, the manager, the team, and particularly the fans, who never stopped singing.

I now travel back to LA for our next match against Kansas City Wizards on Saturday. There are only seven games to go until the playoffs, but we’re only four points off third place, so if we can get a few wins we’ll definitely be in contention for a playoff place. Hopefully we can get that first win in Kansas.
That’s all for now.

Take care,

David

David's latest blog post

Here's his latest blog post:

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well?
As you know Bruce Arena is now in charge at the Galaxy and I played my first game under him last week against New England Revolution. We drew the game, but he is definitely getting his ideas across to the players already. He works us hard in training to ensure we understand exactly what he expects on the pitch. It’s not going to happen overnight, but the signs are there and we’re all behind the manager. Things are looking very positive for the future.

I’m currently training with the England squad ahead of our first two World Cup qualifying games against Andorra and Croatia. We’ve only played friendlies under Fabio Capello so far, so these will be our first competitive matches since he took over, and we are all looking forward to them. I must also add my congratulations to John Terry on being awarded the England captaincy. He is a great player and a great defender who leads by example and so it’s fantastic to see him retain the captain’s armband. All the England squad are delighted for JT and can’t wait to get on with the serious business of qualifying for the World Cup.

That’s all for now,

Take care,

David

David Blogs

Here's his latest blog post (by the way, he denies the car crash allegations himself here ;) ):

Hi everyone,

I was really honoured to be part of the handover ceremony on Sunday in Beijing. I’m a keen supporter of the Olympics coming to London; it will have an incredible impact on the East End of London and the British will embrace the event and show how much passion they have for sport. As I’ve said many times, we deserve a global event on this scale in our country.

The Beijing Olympics were about the great sporting moments and the Great Britain team exceeded all expectations. To finish fourth in the medal table and take home so many medals was amazing and they can all be very proud of themselves. This sort of success always encourages kids to take up sport and do well and many are already getting ready for 2012 and want to be involved in it. I was also lucky to see the US play Spain in the basketball final, I’m pleased for my friend Kobe who wanted so much to win gold for his country. I was impressed with Spain, they never gave up, but the US probably deserved to win over the length of the tournament.

I know a lot has been written about the England game last week but we as a team are focused on the upcoming World Cup qualifying games and performing well, we are confident we can get the right results against Andorra and Croatia. Due to the England game, I missed Bruce Arena’s first match in charge of the Galaxy and unfortunately we lost 1-0. We are determined to get it right and we are working hard to turn things around. We are looking forward to our next game against the New England Revolution on Saturday.

On another note, I know many of you would have been concerned to read about a supposed car crash involving me and Victoria. I want to assure everyone there never was any crash at any time; our car had been dented many days before whilst vacant in a car park.

That’s all for now and thanks, as always, for your support.

Take care,

David
